About Copainalá
Copainalá is a small Zoque town in the rugged hills of northwestern Chiapas. It is known for its traditional houses, its many neighborhood churches, each with its own feast, and citrus trees in almost every backyard. Zoque music and dance are still part of daily life. The biggest celebration is the fair of San Vicente Ferrer in May, and Holy Week and Day of the Dead, when families keep an all-night candlelit vigil in the cemetery, are observed with real devotion.
