    Tecate

Tecate is a border town in a valley of northern Baja California, between Tijuana and Mexicali, and the home of Tecate beer, brewed here since 1943. Life centers on a traditional main plaza with the city hall and the old church a short walk away. Mount Cuchumá, sacred to the Kumiai people, rises over the valley and draws hikers and cyclists. Highway 3 heads south from town toward Ensenada along the wine route.
