About Guerrero

Guerrero is a very small, quiet town in northern Coahuila, a short drive southeast of Piedras Negras and close to the Rio Grande. In colonial times it was San Juan Bautista del Río Grande, a cluster of Franciscan missions and a frontier fort on the royal road to Texas. People visit for that history: the ruins of the missions, above all San Bernardo, and the main plaza, which began as the fort's parade ground.
