About Santiago
Villa de Santiago sits in a green valley at the foot of the Sierra Madre Oriental, a short drive from Monterrey. It is the classic weekend escape for people from the city: a small historic center, the La Boca reservoir for boating and lakeside meals, and the Cola de Caballo waterfall up in the canyon. The surrounding sierra has apple-growing villages, and the area gets noticeably more rain than Monterrey, which keeps it lush.
