About Huamantla

Huamantla is a small city on the high plain east of Tlaxcala, near the Malinche volcano, centered on the gardens and old kiosk of Parque Juárez. Its streets keep colonial and Porfirian houses with iron balconies, plus a 16th-century Franciscan monastery and the parish of San Luis Obispo. It is best known for its August festivities for Our Lady of Charity: on "the night no one sleeps" residents lay kilometers of sawdust and flower carpets, followed by the Huamantlada bull run.
