About Salvatierra
Salvatierra lies in the fertile Huatzindeo valley on the banks of the Lerma River in southern Guanajuato. It was the first place in the state to hold the title of city, and its center is full of viceregal architecture: convents, old mansions with arcaded patios, haciendas and the stone Batanes Bridge of 1650, still open to traffic. Visitors come for the churches, the Capuchin convent cloister, and La Marquesada festival.
