Celaya is the Bajío's crossroads, and the Pueblos Mágicos of Guanajuato fan out from it in every direction. Comonfort, the molcajete-carving town, and Salvatierra, a riverside town of convents and bridges, are both about half an hour away. Yuriria has a fortress-like Augustinian convent beside its lake; Dolores Hidalgo is where Independence was proclaimed; Mineral de Pozos is a ghost town of mine ruins. Querétaro's wine-and-cheese country, Bernal and Tequisquiapan, is within two hours.

Getting there
Celaya has no airport with scheduled flights; the usual one to fly into is Querétaro (QRO).
A car is the easiest way to reach most of these towns; the bigger ones also have direct buses from Celaya. Each pueblo's page has its own getting-there notes.
Drive times are from OpenStreetMap routing without traffic. Times marked ~ are estimated from the distance and may run longer on mountain roads.
