Landmark 11 km southwest of Cadereyta
One of the oldest wineries on the Querétaro wine route, founded in 1975, with tractor rides through the vines.
La Redonda is a family winery on the highway between Tequisquiapan and Ezequiel Montes, and one of the pioneers of winemaking in Querétaro. It was founded in 1975 by the Italian winemaker Vittorio Bortoluz, who planted some of the first vines on these high plains.
Today it is one of the classic stops on the state's Cheese and Wine Route, and a relaxed alternative to the bigger, busier estates nearby. Visits combine a look at the vineyard, often by tractor, with an explanation of how the wine is made and time to taste it.
The estate has a restaurant, a wine bar with dozens of labels and a garden for lingering over a glass with the vineyard in view. Like other wineries in the area, it celebrates the grape harvest (vendimia) each year, one of the liveliest times to visit.
What to see and do
Tour the vineyard by tractor and learn how the grapes are grown.
Taste the house wines in the wine bar.
Stay for a meal in the restaurant or a glass in the garden.
Come during the harvest festival (vendimia); check the dates in advance.
Getting there
