Landmark 12 km south of Bernal
A family vineyard in the Bernal valley making reds, rosés and sparkling wines, with a terrace restaurant and rooms.
San Juanito is a family vineyard and winery in the farmland south of Bernal, near the village of San José de la Laja, in the part of the wine route that locals call the Bernal valley. It is smaller and quieter than the big names on the route, which is exactly why many visitors like it.
The family makes reds, rosés and sparkling wines from grapes grown on the estate, and says its labels have collected well over a hundred medals in national and international competitions. Like the rest of the Querétaro wine country, the vines grow at close to 2,000 meters, where warm days and cool nights help the grapes keep their freshness.
Visits combine a walk through the rows with an explanation of how the wine is made and a tasting, and there is a terrace restaurant for a long lunch with the vineyard in view. The estate also offers lodging and hosts weddings and private events, so on some weekends parts of it may be reserved.
