Landmark 17 km north of Dolores Hidalgo
A winery with a terrace restaurant and hotel rooms north of Dolores, with guided wine and craft beer tastings.
Viñedo Los Arcángeles is a winery, restaurant and small hotel in the open countryside north of Dolores Hidalgo, on the road to San Diego de la Unión. It is part of the young wine region that has grown up around Dolores and San Miguel de Allende since the early 2000s, where cold nights, sunny days and high altitude produce fresh, medium-bodied wines.
Its winemaker, Ulises Ruiz Mariño, trained in enology in France, and the winery's tastings are known for being led by staff who enjoy explaining the wines in detail. Beyond the wine, the estate also offers craft beer tastings, and its terrace restaurant is a pleasant place for a long lunch looking out over the vines.
With rooms on site, Los Arcángeles works well as an overnight stop for anyone exploring the Dolores wine route at a slow pace. It is farther out than Cuna de Tierra, so it tends to be quieter, especially on weekdays.
