About Xochitepec

Xochitepec is a warm town just south of Cuernavaca whose Nahuatl name means on the hill of flowers. Its center has the church of San Juan Evangelista, begun by Franciscans in the 16th century, and a weekend crafts market in the zócalo. Nearby are old sugar haciendas, the arched aqueduct of Santa Catarina in Chiconcuac, and spring-fed water parks such as Palo Bolero with its sulfur waters and grotto. The patron saint fiestas run from December 27 into January with chinelos and jaripeos.
