Cuernavaca is twenty-five minutes from Tepoztlán, the most visited Pueblo Mágico in Morelos, with its convent, its mountain pyramid and its Sunday market. Tlayacapan, Xochitepec and Tlaltizapán are all under an hour away. Over the hills to the west are Malinalco, with its rock-cut Aztec temple, and the thermal spas of Ixtapan de la Sal and Tonatico; to the south is the silver town of Taxco. Puebla's Atlixco and Cholula are under two hours across the volcano pass.

Cuernavaca has no airport with scheduled flights; the usual one to fly into is Toluca (TLC).
