    About Jesús del Monte

    Jesús del Monte is the second most populous locality in Huixquilucan: 30,396 residents in 2020, at roughly 2,630–2,660 m and about 3 km south-west of the municipal seat. The growth is the striking part: the 1960 census counted 161 people; by 1980 there were 3,443, by 2000 8,669 and by 2010 23,150. Its closeness to Interlomas and Mexico City explains the boom.

    Its name matches that of the old Hacienda de Jesús del Monte, whose registry records go back to 1783 and whose lands, according to the parties in a decades-long lawsuit, covered what are now Interlomas, Tecamachalco and the Universidad Anáhuac (a 2014 Métrica Digital report). There are other Jesús del Montes in Michoacán and elsewhere in the State of Mexico; do not mix them up.

    The parish of Jesús del Monte belongs to the Archdiocese of Tlalnepantla, and the municipal patron-saint calendar puts its feast on 22 February. Avenida Jesús del Monte is one of its main streets. The climate is cool, with an annual mean near 12.8 °C and rain on about 240 days a year according to Pueblos de América. There are almost no documented tourist sights; people come for the feast, to see the parish, or on the way to Interlomas.

    Drive from Mexico City: 30 min, 24 km

    Jesús del Monte is about 3 km south-west of Huixquilucan de Degollado and close to Interlomas; Avenida Jesús del Monte is one of its main streets. The queue draft puts Mexico City about 18 km away in a straight line. The Chamapa–Lechería motorway runs through the municipality and a network of rural roads links its villages to the Toluca highway. On public transport, Huixquilucan's bus routes connect the municipality with Chapultepec and Tacubaya metro stations and with Naucalpan, but there is no published published route that says which one reaches Jesús del Monte itself: ask at the stop or search the destination "Jesús del Monte" on an online map. Travel time from central Mexico City depends on traffic and there is no published published figure.
