About Bosque de San Juan de Aragón
Bosque de San Juan de Aragón is northern Mexico City's big park: about 162 hectares, 114 of them green space, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. President Adolfo López Mateos opened it on 20 November 1964 together with the zoo, on land taken in 1962 from the ejido of San Juan de Aragón, which itself came out of the old Hacienda de Aragón, named in the 18th century by the Marquis of Jaral de Berrio. It was declared an area of environmental value, as an urban forest, in 2008, and is reckoned to get around 3.5 million visits a year.
The trees are mostly eucalyptus and casuarina, younger than those of Chapultepec, and the lake draws ducks, herons and other birds from the 106 species recorded; many of the ducks are migrants, a remnant of the Lake Texcoco flocks. Two artificial wetlands, built in 2011 and 2019, help clean the lake water. Runners have worn a loop of about 5 km around the forest, and since 2015 there has been a skatepark, a food area and weekend cultural activities.
Inside are installations from the 1970s: the open-air theatre (1972), the Sara Pérez de Madero children's centre (1972) and the public swimming complex (1974). The zoo, a neighbouring site next to the forest, opened in 1964, was rebuilt between 1999 and 2002 and is arranged by continent, with Mexican wolf, jaguar, Asian elephant, hippo and sea lion. The park has nine entrances feeding into one central circuit.

Parts of Line B were closed in 2025 and January 2026, with RTP replacement buses; check service before leaving.
