    About Villas de Jojutla

    Villas de Jojutla is not an old village but a housing development: according to Wikipedia it was founded on 15 July 2009, and despite the name it belongs to the municipality of Tlaquiltenango, not Jojutla. Its growth shows in the INEGI census: 196 residents in 2010 and 1,625 in 2020, of whom 854 were women and 771 men. It ranks 25th of the municipality's 54 localities.

    It sits about 890 metres above sea level, some 2.4 km west of the municipal seat, Tlaquiltenango, along the Tejalpa-Jojutla state road (MOR 14) that links the two towns. The climate is hot and fairly dry most of the year: a mean annual temperature near 24.6 °C and about 900 mm of rain concentrated in summer, with September the wettest month and May the hottest; a high of 42.2 °C was recorded in May 2024.

    Because the neighbourhood is recent, services look different from a rural village: in 2020 about 98% of homes had a mobile phone and 71% had internet, high figures for the municipality.

    There are no monuments or sights of its own. Its value to a traveller is practical: it lies between Jojutla, with its market and services, and Tlaquiltenango, and is a handy landmark for anyone exploring southern Morelos toward Tequesquitengo and the area's balnearios.

    How to get to Villas de Jojutla

    Drive from Cuernavaca: 40 min, 38 km

    Villas de Jojutla lies on the Tejalpa-Jojutla state road (MOR 14), about 2.4 km west of Tlaquiltenango. From Cuernavaca it is about 37 km and roughly 40 minutes: take the Autopista del Sol (México 95D) south, leave at the Xochitepec access and follow MOR 14 (Tejalpa-Jojutla) for about 17 km until you enter along Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas; Boulevard Villas de Jojutla appears soon after.

    From Jojutla it is about 6 km and roughly 7 to 10 minutes. From Tlaltizapán, the nearest pueblo on the list, it is about 11 km and roughly 15 minutes along Avenida Morelos (MOR 2). Times come from OpenStreetMap routing, not measured drives.

    By public transport We found no line with a published timetable. Local colectivos and buses between Jojutla and Tlaquiltenango run along this corridor; confirm with the driver that they pass the development. From Mexico City, take a bus to Cuernavaca from the Terminal Sur (Taxqueña), then another toward Jojutla or Tlaquiltenango.
