About Santo Tomás la Concordia
Santo Tomás la Concordia is the second-largest locality in the municipality of Natívitas, with 3,179 people at the 2020 census (2,798 in 2010), at about 2,190 metres above sea level. Its community president is chosen by customary practice (usos y costumbres) rather than universal vote. It lies less than 1 km from Jesús Tepactepec and a little over 2 km from Santiago Michac.
Oral tradition collected by INAH tells how it began. In some versions, around 1886 or the late 19th century, the Zahuapan and Atoyac rivers flooded and swept away houses, animals and trees in the old settlement of Santo Tomás Xochitlan, now called Pueblo Viejo. Farmland was waterlogged, illness spread and people had to look for another site. Some accounts say only thirty people made the move, carrying the old church's bell and several images, among them that of their patron, Saint Thomas the Apostle. The remains of that church still stand, in ruins, on muddy ground.
The patrons are Saint Thomas the Apostle and Saint Sebastian the Martyr. The moros y cristianos dance has a troupe here that, on its rounds of significant places in the village, includes a visit to the ruins of Pueblo Viejo to recall the former territory. In May 2026 the community hosted the fifth Encuentro Cultural del Moro, on 8 to 10 May, with troupes from Tlaxcala and other states; the opening was held at the La Concordia chapel.

Drive from San Martín Texmelucan: 20 min, 17 km
Santo Tomás la Concordia is in southeast Tlaxcala, on the border with Puebla, less than 1 km from the municipal seat of Natívitas (0.7 km southwest as the crow flies) and from Jesús Tepactepec. From the Pueblo Mágico of Huejotzingo, Puebla, it is about 18 km and approx. 18 minutes by car; to the city of Puebla, approx. 30 minutes (about 24 km). It is reached by the local roads linking Natívitas with Zacatelco and the Puebla–Tlaxcala corridor; there is no published public-transport route dedicated to the village, so the usual way is to reach Natívitas by shared transport and continue by taxi.
