About Santa Inés Tecuexcomac
Santa Inés Tecuexcomac is a locality in the municipality of Ixtacuixtla de Mariano Matamoros, at about 2,220 metres above sea level, with 3,079 residents at the 2020 census. Its growth has been slow and recent: 949 people in 1970 and 2,542 in 2000. The name is Nahuatl and is read as in the stone granary (tetl, stone; cuexcomatl, granary), and Santa Inés, Agnes of Assisi according to Wikipedia's entry, is the village's titular saint.
In colonial times the village depended on the curacy of San Felipe Ixtacuixtla: the Enciclopedia de los Municipios cites that around 1779 that curacy covered La Santísima Trinidad Tenexeca, Santa Ana Nopalucan, Santa Inés Tecuexcomac and Santa Justina, and that none of them held communal land. Today what sets Tecuexcomac apart in the municipal listing is its farming bent: its main activity is agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing, while its neighbour Santa Justina Ecatepec leans toward manufacturing and construction. The community president is chosen by constitutional vote.
The building the Enciclopedia records as the village's monument is the Templo de Santa Inés, on the Tlaxcala-San Martín road at the junction toward Santa Justina Ecatepec. It is a white church with two bell towers, a red dome and a broad forecourt under a light roof. Santa Ana Nopalucan lies a short way off.

Drive from San Martín Texmelucan: 15 min, 14 km
Tecuexcomac lies in western Tlaxcala, in the municipality of Ixtacuixtla, about 2 km from Santa Justina Ecatepec and roughly 3 km from the municipal seat, Villa Mariano Matamoros (approximate distances measured on the map). From Tlaxcala city follow highway 117, Tlaxcala-Popocatla-San Martín Texmelucan, the same road the Enciclopedia de los Municipios uses to place Ixtacuixtla, about 15 km from Tlaxcala; the Santa Inés church stands on that Tlaxcala-San Martín street, at the junction leading to Santa Justina Ecatepec. From San Martín Texmelucan, drive the same road in the other direction. There are no published bus or colectivo schedules to the village. By road, Tlaxcala is roughly 20 km and 20 minutes away (approximate).
