San Antonio Tecóac

San Antonio Tecóac is a locality in the municipality of Ixtacuixtla de Mariano Matamoros, in west-central Tlaxcala, at about 2,219 metres above sea level. At the 2020 census it had 1,052 residents, nearly double the 561 of 1990. Its name comes from Nahuatl: tetl (stone), coatl (serpent) and -co, "in the stone serpent". The patron saint is St Anthony of Padua.

The village lies 5.2 km in a straight line east of Villa Mariano Matamoros, and several larger localities surround it: San Antonio Tizostoc, 0.7 km to the north, with 2,130 residents, and La Trinidad Tenexyecac, 1.4 km to the southwest, with 3,310 and whose parish counts among the municipality's churches. Santiago Xochimilco is 1.2 km to the west.

In the centre, the community office, a brick-arcaded building with a balcony, carries the date 1912 on its sign, and beside it stands the church, with a yellow tiled dome. To the north rise Cerro Xilxochil, at 2,440 m, and Hueyactepec, at 2,381 m, to the northeast. There are no hotels in the village; the closest are about 5 km to the southwest.
