About San Juan Tuxco
San Juan Tuxco is a village in the municipality of San Martín Texmelucan in western Puebla. The name comes from the Nahuatl tochtli, rabbit, and co, in: "among the rabbits". It stands at about 2,290 m and had 7,307 people in 2020.
The municipality of San Martín Texmelucan lies on the western side of the Puebla-Tlaxcala valley, on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada that divides this valley from the Valley of Mexico, next to the Tlaxcala line and near the State of Mexico. It covers about 71 km² between 2,200 and 2,500 m. The land is mostly flat, with some hills to the west and north such as Totolqueme, Tepeyacac, Mendocinas and Ayecac. Its main stream is the Atoyac River, formed by brooks running down from the Sierra Nevada. It borders San Salvador el Verde, San Felipe Teotlalcingo, Chiautzingo, Huejotzingo and, on the Tlaxcala side, Ixtacuixtla, Tepetitla and Natívitas.
Tuxco's main building is its parish church of San Juan, with the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament.
