    About Balneario Acueducto

    Balneario Acueducto sits on the west side of Jantetelco, the seat of the municipality of the same name, in eastern Morelos a few kilometres from the Puebla line. OpenStreetMap maps it as a water park, and El Sol de Cuautla describes it as having pools, a children's pool and water slides for a family day out; a headline in the same paper puts it at under 100 pesos. We found no website or official page with hours and fees, and one Morelos balneario directory does not list it at all, so we give no figures we cannot back up: call or ask in town before you go. We also could not find where the name comes from.

    The town lies at about 1,400 m above sea level with a warm climate and summer rains: Wikipedia gives an annual average of around 22.5 °C and about 865 mm of rain, with winters much drier than summers. For an ordinary, non-thermal pool that means the dry months are the easiest time to plan a day, and in the rainy season it is best to go in the morning.

    Jantetelco has other reasons to stop. Mariano Matamoros was the parish priest here and joined José María Morelos in 1811; the town was renamed for him in 1874 and his room became a museum in 1885. About 3.7 km away is Chalcatzingo, a Preclassic archaeological site with Olmec influence and reliefs carved into the rock. Pairing a swim with either visit is the natural way to build a day trip from Cuautla.

    How to get to Balneario Acueducto

    Drive from Cuautla: 20 min, 25 km

    From Mexico City take the autopista to Cuautla and, once in Cuautla, follow the federal highway toward Izúcar de Matamoros to the Jantetelco turn-off; México Desconocido puts the drive at about 2 h 30 min from the capital and 1 h 15 min from Cuernavaca. From Cuautla to Jantetelco it is about 24 km and around 25 minutes by car along Avenida Reforma, the main road between the two towns. The balneario is on the west side of Jantetelco, so once in town follow the map pin and ask, since there is no official site with directions.

    By public transport: buses run from Terminal Sur (Taxqueña) in Mexico City to Cuautla. From Cuautla, according to Rome2rio, Volcanes buses leave about every 30 minutes for Amayuca, a ride of about 30 minutes that passes through the area; ask the driver whether it goes into Jantetelco or whether you should get off in Amayuca and take a taxi or colectivo. Cuautla is the closest city and the practical base.
