About Amomolulco

Amomolulco is a locality in the municipality of Lerma, in the State of Mexico, at about 2,580 m and 2.4 km in a straight line from Lerma de Villada, the municipal seat. Its name is Nahuatl and is read as 'where water springs up', according to Wikipedia, from atl (water), momoloca (to well up) and the place suffix -co, a name that speaks of springs.

INEGI counted 1,122 inhabitants in 2020. According to the censuses compiled on Wikipedia the village was still very small in 1970, with 451 people, and it has been growing since, to 832 in 2010.

What there is to see is a former hacienda: the casco of the ex hacienda Villa Carmela, which appears as a catalogued historic monument (ID 08596 in the heritage register used by Wiki Loves Monuments), less than a kilometre from the village by its coordinates. We found no opening hours or sources saying whether you can go in, so view it from the street and respect the property. Amomolulco works best as a short stop if you are already going to Lerma or to San Pedro Tultepec, a few kilometres away.
