Punta Verde

Punta Verde is one of the youngest localities in Morelos: according to Wikipedia it was founded on 15 July 2012. It belongs to the municipality of Temixco, at 1,367 meters above sea level, and real-estate portals advertise it as a gated-style housing development, which fits that recent origin.

The 2020 census counted 1,703 residents (878 women and 825 men) and 579 occupied homes. Some 35% of the population was born outside Morelos, which reflects its character as a new residential area. Average schooling is almost 11 years, and nearly every home has electricity, piped water and a toilet.

The climate is warm with summer rains: an average annual temperature of about 20.5 °C, April as the hottest month and January as the coolest, and about 700 mm of rain a year, September being the wettest month, according to Pueblos de America.

Around it lie other newer colonias, such as Colinas de Altar 650 m away, Solidaridad and Eterna Primavera, along with Barranca Colorada, 400 m to the south. It has no lodging of its own; the closest hotels are about 5 km away. It is a pass-through stop rather than an attraction, useful as a reference point if you are exploring west of Cuernavaca toward Xochitepec and Xochicalco.
