About San Andrés Cuauhtempan

Cuauhtempan is formed from cuahuitl, tree; tentli, lips or edge; and the locative pan: 'at the edge of the forest'. The prefix San Andrés recalls its patron saint, the apostle Andrew. It is a locality in the municipality of Tlayacapan, the Pueblo Mágico of 16th-century convents, about 4 km from the municipal seat by the shortest estimate.

The available sources on this village are thin, so we say little. Wikipedia records only its name, its saint and its municipality, and we found no monographs on its church, its festival date or its founding. In the town of Tlayacapan itself there is a chapel of San Andrés, which México Desconocido lists among the neighbourhood chapels, but we cannot say it is related to this village.

What you can do is use it as part of a drive around Tlayacapan: the former convent of San Juan Bautista, built in 1534 and housing a sacred-art museum, is a few minutes away, and Oaxtepec is about 10. The area is warm, with cornfields and orchards between the villages.

Visit with respect; it is an everyday community with no organised tourist services and no published hours.
