Lomas del Pedregal

From 167 residents in 2005 to 1,897 in 2020: Lomas del Pedregal multiplied its population elevenfold in fifteen years. It belongs to Tepoztlán municipality, Morelos, at about 1,413 m, in postal code area 62529. In ten years (2010 to 2020) inhabited houses went from 356 to 505. The 2020 count was 928 women and 969 men; 191 children up to age 5, 359 aged 6 to 14, and 154 people aged 60 or older.

Pueblos de México's climate series (1970 to 2025) classes it as semi-arid, averaging 20.1 °C, with April the warmest month (22.9 °C), January the coolest (17.5 °C) and September the wettest, with about 834 mm of rain a year. Average rainfall for 2015 to 2025 rose to 1,271 mm against 727 mm for 1970 to 2014, a striking change. Services are still catching up: in 2020 only 27% of homes had piped water and 34% had internet, although 90% had a mobile phone.

The name refers to the pedregal, a stretch of stony ground. Loma Esmeralda lies about 660 m to the northwest and Colonia Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez less than 500 m to the east; 1.7 km east there is the Laguna de Hueyapan locality, home to just five people. The peaks of La Corona (1,681 and 1,838 m) and Las Tetillas (1,636 m) show to the southeast. The nearest registered businesses are in the Jiutepec locality, and the Delf Inn and La Herradura hotels are 3 to 4 km away.
