About Balneario ISSSTehuixtla

The Centro Recreativo y Cultural ISSSTEHuixtla, at Avenida de la Fundición s/n, colonia Guadalupe, Tehuixtla, in the municipality of Jojutla, stands on the site of the old La Fundición balneario, which passed to the ISSSTE in 1980. Although the institute runs it, it is not only for members: the general public is admitted, at different rates.

The sulphur water rises from a borbollón, a spring about 9 m deep, that feeds the pools, and the overflow drops as a waterfall into the Amacuzac River. Sources count between five and six pools: the monumental one with the waterfall, a children's splash pool, the Los Amates pool and a diving pit with 3 m and 5 m platforms. Two 157 m water slides are also advertised, though a 2017 review said they were not working, so ask whether they are running. There are sports courts, more than 15,000 m² of lawns, a restaurant, a shop, changing rooms and lockers, a camping zone with toilets and showers, and cabins for four or six people. No source publishes the water temperature.

In September 2024 flooding damaged the complex; it reopened in December 2024 and 11 cabins were restored in the repairs. It opens 365 days a year, 9:00 to 18:00, with the last tickets sold at 16:30. The 2026 entry is 131 pesos for the general public, 87 for ISSSTE members, and 69 for children up to 12, students and INAPAM cardholders; ISSSTE retirees and pensioners enter free with their card, and the first camping night for the public is about 270 pesos and includes entry.
