Waterfall 13 km south of Guachochi
An 80-meter free-falling waterfall inside the Sinforosa canyon, about two hours' hike down from the rim; go with a guide.
Cascada Rosalinda is the hidden prize of the Barranca de Sinforosa. Inside the canyon, below the Cumbres de Sinforosa viewpoint, a stream leaps off a cliff in a free fall of about 80 meters, making it the biggest waterfall around Guachochi. A second fall nearby, San Ignacio, adds to the scene.
Unlike the viewpoint, Rosalinda takes real effort. There is no road to it: you descend on foot from the rim for about two hours, dropping from pine forest into warmer, scrubbier canyon vegetation, and then climb back the same way. The trail is steep and loose in places, and the heat inside the canyon can be strong even when the rim is cool.
That effort is what makes it special. Few visitors make it down, so you are likely to have the pool and the spray to yourself. The flow is strongest after the summer rains, when the falls are at their fullest and the canyon is green.

Hike down from the Sinforosa rim to the foot of the 80-meter fall.
