About Xplor
Xplor is Grupo Xcaret's adventure park, opened in 2009 at km 282 of Highway 307, the same address as Xcaret, a few kilometres south of Playa del Carmen. Where Xcaret mixes nature, culture and shows, Xplor is built around physical activity above and below the ground, and it bills itself as the most-visited zip-line park in the world.
The day is organised as a set of circuits that you repeat as often as you like. There are two zip-line circuits through and over the jungle, a route driven in amphibious vehicles along dirt tracks, caves and hanging bridges, and an underground circuit where you lie on a raft and paddle with your hands through grottoes. You can also swim or wade along a river lined with stalactites and stalagmites, ride the Hamacuatizaje (a hammock on a zip line that drops you into the water), join the Expedición Subterránea through flooded caverns, and go down the Toboganxote, a five-in-one slide that ends in a wave pool. The ticket is all-inclusive, with a buffet and fresh juices and smoothies.
In 2013 the group added Xplor Fuego, a night version on the same site where the amphibious vehicles, zip lines, raft circuit and stalactite river run by torchlight, with a buffet dinner. The operator recommends Xplor for children from age 5, and some activities have height limits. Expect to get wet and muddy; it is a physical day rather than a sightseeing one.
How to get to Xplor
Drive from Playa del Carmen: 10 min, 9 km
Xplor is at km 282 of Federal Highway 307 (Cancún–Tulum), next to Xcaret, a few kilometres south of Playa del Carmen and about 75 km south of Cancún. Grupo Xcaret sells round-trip hotel transport from Cancún and the Riviera Maya with the ticket (599 MXN per person in 2026).
