Ciudad Victoria has no Pueblo Mágico within a short drive, but a few make a good weekend. Tula, two hours southwest, is the oldest town in Tamaulipas, with a cactus-studded plateau and a tradition of leather boots and cuera jackets. Over the sierra in Nuevo León are Linares, famous for its glorias milk sweets, and the orchards of General Terán. The long haul west ends at Real de Catorce, the ghost silver town reached through a mountain tunnel.
