About Playa Quieta

Playa Quieta ("Quiet Beach") lies just north of Ixtapa, on the far side of Punta Ixtapa from the main hotel strip and just south of Playa Linda, looking across a narrow channel to Isla Ixtapa. It lives up to its name: the beach is known for calm water and the mood relaxed, in contrast with the surf on Playa El Palmar. The beach is about 650 m long, and much of it is fronted by the Club Med resort, which stands on the hill behind the sand; together with Playa Linda it forms part of Ixtapa's second hotel zone.

In January 2020 the Guerrero state government and the state DIF opened Playa Quieta as an inclusive beach, the second in Guerrero after Bahías de Papanoa, so that people with disabilities can get onto the sand, into the sea and into the restaurants with as little difficulty as possible. It has access ramps, bathrooms, reserved parking, a directory and street signs in braille, amphibious equipment, special loungers and chairs for children and adults, rescue stretchers, walkers and crutches, and local restaurants were given menus in braille.

There is not much else here, and that is the point: a gentle place to swim and spend a few hours, close to the pier at Playa Linda for boats to Isla Ixtapa and to the start of the bike path back to Ixtapa. The only public parking is at the far northern end of the beach.
