Signoret

Signoret is one of the 32 neighbourhoods of San Salvador Chachapa, the auxiliary town of Amozoc municipality that stretches along the Puebla–Tehuacán federal highway, west of the municipal seat and about 12 km from downtown Puebla. It shares the town with neighbourhoods such as Guadalupe, El Arenal, Santo Ángel, Agua Santa and San Diego Ecatepec.

Chachapa was formally founded in 1639 to end land disputes between the haciendas of San Diego Icatepec, San Lorenzo, San Cristóbal and San Bartolo; the founding petition was promoted by Juan de Cortés y Cedeño and Bishop Manuel Fernández de Santa Cruz. The haciendas fell during the Revolution, and in 1986 the church of the Divino Salvador became a parish. Today the town has an industrial park, shops along the highway and orchards growing maize, beans, peaches, apples, tejocotes, capulín cherries and pears.

Amozoc, "place free of mud", covers about 135 km² between the foothills of La Malinche and the Sierra de Amozoc. To protect that range's oak and juniper woods, called a "lung" of the metropolitan area, the state created Flor del Bosque park on the old San Bartolo ranch, with trails, a small zoo and a farm. In the seat, the grey-stone parish church of Santa María de la Asunción dates from 1752, and Amozoc gave Mexico the saying "to end like the rosary of Amozoc", meaning in a brawl.
