Loreto and its bay

A region of Baja California Sur

Loreto, founded in 1697 as the first Spanish mission in the Californias, and the national marine park in front of it, with Isla del Carmen, Isla Coronado and Isla Danzante. South along the coast, Nopoló, Puerto Escondido and Ligüí sit below the Sierra de la Giganta, and the mission of San Javier hides in the mountains inland.
