Lake 3 km southeast of Teúl de González Ortega
Teúl's reservoir five minutes from town: trajinera and kayak rides, bass fishing, a lakeside walk and weekend food.
Presa La Ticuata, officially named Manuel Caloca, is a reservoir just southeast of Teúl de González Ortega, at the foot of the hills that surround the town. It was inaugurated in 1980 to store water for the valley's farms, and in recent years the town has turned its shore into a relaxed spot for an afternoon on the water.
The most unusual thing to do here is a ride on a trajinera, the brightly painted flat boats best known from Xochimilco; Teúl's are named La Caxcana and La Ticuata. You can also rent a kayak, go out in a boat, or fish for largemouth bass. A lakeside walkway and a small bridge known as the Puente de los Deseos make it a pleasant place for a stroll at sunset.
According to the town's tourism guide, swimming is possible from April to September. On weekends small restaurants by the reservoir serve food, so it combines easily with a visit to the archaeological site of Cerro del Teúl and a tasting at one of the town's mezcal distilleries.
