About Cenote Nool Ha

Cenote Nool Ha (also written Noolha) is a cave cenote on the northern edge of the city of Valladolid, about 2 km north of the main square. It is a recent addition to the long list of cenotes around Valladolid: Wikivoyage described it as a brand-new complex in April 2025, and it is run by Chichikan, the company behind the Cenote Chichikan eco-park a few kilometres further north. Its closeness to the city centre and its tour-friendly facilities have quickly made it a stop on some of the busiest Chichén Itzá day tours from Cancún and Playa del Carmen.

The cenote sits inside a cave, and you reach the water by a staircase down its side. Below, a wooden deck has steps into the water, a couple of jumping boards and a zip line that drops you into the pool. The water is reported to be about 45 m deep and so clear that shafts of sunlight reach far down. As at most managed cenotes, you have to shower before swimming and wear a life jacket.

Above ground the complex has a snack bar with food and drinks and shaded areas with hammocks for resting between swims; lockers and life jackets are part of the ticket. Because tour groups arrive from late morning, it tends to get crowded from about 11:00, so the quietest time is right after opening. Being so close to town, it pairs easily with a walk around Valladolid's centre, Cenote Zací or the San Bernardino convent the same day.

How to get to Cenote Nool Ha

Drive from Tizimín: 55 min, 51 km

The cenote is about 2 km north of Valladolid's main square, a short taxi ride or a longer walk from the centre. From Mérida, drive to Valladolid first (about 160 km on the 180D toll road or the free Highway 180). Several day tours from Cancún and Playa del Carmen to Chichén Itzá stop here, as do some cenote tours that leave from Valladolid's main square.
