Waterfall 8 km west of Cosalá
Cosalá's favorite swimming spot: three waterfalls, a small lake, and natural pools of warm, mineral-rich water west of town.
Vado Hondo is a natural park in the hills about 12 kilometers west of Cosalá, and it is where people from town and from all over central Sinaloa go to swim. A stream fed by mineral-rich springs runs down through thick green vegetation, dropping over three waterfalls and collecting in a small lake and a series of natural pools.
The water is noticeably warm and carries a lot of dissolved minerals, and locals credit it with healing properties. Around the pools you can hike the trails along the stream, ride horses, or camp overnight, and there is a zip line for a bit more adrenaline.
It is busiest on weekends, during Holy Week, and in the summer holidays, when families spend the whole day here. The waterfalls are fullest during and just after the summer rainy season, but the spring-fed pools usually have water year-round.
