Marina Cabo San Lucas

The Cabo San Lucas marina is the working and social heart of the city, in the municipality of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. It fills the inner harbour just behind the bay, below the hill at the end of downtown, and is where the town's boats, shops and restaurants come together. Wikivoyage says the harbour was dredged in 1973 and the marina opened in 1974; before that, the shore here held an old cannery and a few charter fishing boats.

Today it has about 380 slips, with yachts of 200 feet or more moored beside sportfishing cruisers and small pangas. A pedestrian boardwalk runs around the docks, lined with restaurants, bars and cafes, and the Puerto Paraíso mall and the Luxury Avenue boutiques stand beside it. The fleet is the reason many people come to Cabo: the town is a base for marlin and tuna fishing, and Bisbee's Los Cabos Offshore, a marlin tournament, is held here every October, while whale-watching boats go out from January to March.

The marina is also where most tours begin. Water taxis, glass-bottom boats and pangas leave from the docks for El Arco, the sea lion colony at Land's End, Playa del Amor and Playa del Divorcio, and sailing, snorkeling and diving operators have offices here. It is an easy walk from downtown and Médano Beach, and the stroll around the boardwalk is a pleasant way to see the boats, especially late in the day.
