About Playa del Amor

Playa del Amor, or Lover's Beach, is a small sand beach tucked into the granite ridge of Land's End, a few hundred metres from El Arco and directly across the bay from the Cabo San Lucas marina, in the municipality of Los Cabos. It faces the Sea of Cortez and lies on a narrow strip of sand that crosses the ridge to the Pacific; the beach on the far side, a couple of minutes' walk across the sand, is Playa del Divorcio. There is no road or path in: the beach is reached by water taxi, panga or kayak.

On the bay side the water is usually sheltered and clear, which makes it the place at Land's End to swim and snorkel, with fish around the rocks and a roped-off area near shore away from boat traffic. Conditions do change with the swell, and the beach is closed to landings when the sea is rough, so check before going. It lies inside the Cabo San Lucas Flora and Fauna Protection Area, and from the sand there are close views of the arch and the pinnacles around it.

There are no vendors, shade or facilities of any kind, so bring water, food, sunscreen and something for shade, and take everything back out. Most visitors come on a water taxi from the marina or Médano Beach, ask to be dropped off, and agree on a pickup time with the boatman. Mornings are calmer and less crowded than midday, when tour boats pile up along the shore. Do not swim on the Pacific side at Playa del Divorcio, where the surf and currents are dangerous.
