About Playa Migriño
Playa Migriño is a long, empty Pacific beach on the coast north of Cabo San Lucas, in the municipality of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. It is reached from Highway 19, the toll-free road that runs along the Pacific side of the peninsula from Cabo San Lucas toward Todos Santos, at the Puente Migriño bridge, which Los Cabos Magazine places at km 100. Tour operators describe it as a beach of golden sand and large dunes stretching for kilometres, with open views of the ocean.
It is far from the resort areas, and what happens here is mostly organized tours: operators run camel rides along the sand and ATV or side-by-side drives over the dunes, often as a half-day combination, with a typical minimum age of 16 for drivers. Whales pass offshore in winter, and the magazine calls it a good whale-watching spot in season. A freshwater stream also reaches the sea at the beach, which makes the shoreline more complicated than a plain strip of sand.
The beach is not for swimming. Los Cabos Magazine says plainly that swimming is very dangerous here and should not be attempted, citing a very strong current and large waves, and a local news site reported a fatal drowning here in September 2022 when currents were exceptionally strong. There are no facilities, so bring your own food and water. If you drive yourself, the way in goes down a short semi-paved road to the arroyo under the bridge and then along the arroyo for about a kilometre, following tire tracks, so a four-wheel-drive vehicle is best; most visitors simply book a tour from Cabo.
