Town 12 km southeast of Todos Santos
A farming and surf town just south of Todos Santos, with organic farms, roadside taco stands and the best beaches nearby.
El Pescadero is a farming and surf town of a few thousand people on Highway 19, about ten kilometers south of Todos Santos. Its fields between the mountains and the sea grow vegetables, herbs and fruit, much of it organic, for markets in the region and beyond.
The town itself is a strip of homes, shops and roadside taco stands along the highway, but it is the base for some of the best beaches on this coast. Playa Los Cerritos, the area's beginner surf beach, is just to the south, and the powerful waves at San Pedrito and nearby beaches draw experienced surfers. Surf schools, small hotels and cafés have multiplied in recent years.
El Pescadero is also the gateway to the Sierra de la Laguna: dirt roads inland from town lead to the trailhead for the climb into the biosphere reserve.
What to see and do
Eat at the taco stands and small restaurants along the highway.
Stop at the cafés and small hotels that have opened near the beaches.
Surf or take a lesson at Los Cerritos or the beaches nearby.
