About VidantaWorld

VidantaWorld Vallarta–Nuevo Nayarit, still widely known as Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta or by the name of its Mayan Palace hotel, is a huge resort complex on Banderas Bay. It fills the southern end of Nuevo Vallarta in the municipality of Bahía de Banderas, from the beach back through jungle gardens, lagoons and golf courses towards Highway 200. It belongs to Grupo Vidanta, the Mexican company Daniel Chávez Morán founded in 1974, which in 2024 relaunched its two flagship resorts here and on the Riviera Maya under the VidantaWorld name, presenting them as destinations of hotels, restaurants, shows and theme parks rather than simply places to sleep.

Inside are several hotels, restaurants, pools and two golf courses: the Nayar course, designed by Jim Lipe, and the Vallarta course, which since 2021 has hosted the Mexico Open, an official PGA Tour event, held in 2026 for the fifth time as the VidantaWorld Mexico Open. Big-name concerts are staged here as well. The most ambitious project began with a 2014 agreement with Cirque du Soleil to build an entertainment park: in December 2025 Cirque opened LUDŌ, a water-themed resident show with aquatic acrobatics in the 696-seat Lotus Theater, ringed by aquarium walls.

LUDŌ is the gateway to BON (Beauty of Nature), a 150-acre theme park billed as the world's first luxury theme park, with more than 20 attractions in seven themed worlds and deliberately limited attendance. It begins a phased soft opening on 24 October 2026, open only to VidantaWorld guests until the public opening planned for April 2027. Most of the complex is for hotel guests, but anyone can buy LUDŌ tickets; non-guests are dropped by taxi at the access road and walk about 15 to 20 minutes to the theatre.

How to get to VidantaWorld

Drive from Puerto Vallarta: 25 min, 17 km

VidantaWorld is at the south end of Nuevo Vallarta, reached from Highway 200 by the Vidanta main access road at Las Jarretaderas, just north of the Ameca River bridge and a few minutes from Puerto Vallarta's airport. From the Zona Romántica it is about 24 km; allow 45 to 60 minutes for evening traffic over the bridge and the security checkpoints. Ubers (about 450 to 750 pesos) and taxis (about 600 to 900 pesos, cash) drop non-guests at a turning circle on the access road about 800 m from the LUDŌ theatre, a 15 to 20 minute walk; you walk back there to get a ride home.
