Viewpoint 3 km southeast of Mazamitla
The peak that gives the Sierra del Tigre its name, just south-east of town, with wide views over the forest and valleys.
The Cerro del Tigre is the mountain just south-east of Mazamitla that gives its name to the whole range, the Sierra del Tigre. Along with the Cerro El Jacal, it is one of the highest points in the municipality, and its summit area has a viewpoint over the pine and oak forest that covers these mountains.
From the top the views open in several directions: down to the farmland valleys around Valle de Juárez, across the forested ridges of the sierra, and on clear days toward the lowlands. It is a favorite spot for a picnic or a long walk, and the dirt tracks around it are used for horseback rides, mountain biking and ATV tours.
Unlike the developed parks around town, the Cerro del Tigre is a simple outing into the forest, so it suits visitors who want quiet, fresh air and a bit of exercise. Mornings are usually clearest; in the rainy season clouds often cover the summit by afternoon.

Getting there
From the center of Mazamitla, follow Calle Vicente Guerrero out of town and continue on the dirt track; the drive takes about 15 minutes, and the track can be rough after rain, so a high-clearance vehicle helps. Many visitors go with local tour operators, on horseback or on foot.
