    About Cipreses

    Cipreses is part of Pachuca's urban sprawl: Wikipedia describes it as a locality joined to the capital and inside its metropolitan area. It sits at 2,339 metres on flat ground at the edge of the Tizayuca Valley, and its water drains to the Tezontepec River sub-basin. The climate is semi-dry and temperate.

    The population figures are short but clear: 2,129 people in 2010 and 1,867 in 2020, 0.92% of the municipality of Mineral de la Reforma; 867 men and 1,000 women. It lost about 260 people in that decade.

    The municipality helps explain the surroundings. Its name alludes to the region's mines, and in 2015 it had the best human development index in the state (0.835) and a very low marginalisation level. It has an industrial park, ten tianguis and four markets; farmers sow barley, maize, beans and wheat, and sand and clay are quarried. The mean temperature is 16 °C with about 392 mm of rain a year, falling between June and September, and the only river is the Hules, which crosses the territory from north to south.

The metropolitan area has the Tuzobús, on dedicated lanes, with a 10-peso fare paid by Tuzocard; peseros and combis (around 10 pesos) fill out the network. For the last stretch to Cipreses, ask in Pachuca which route goes through the locality, or take a taxi.
