About El Álamo
El Álamo lies in what Wikipedia calls the Comarca Minera, at 2,415 metres, on rolling hills. It stands within Pachuca's sprawl, a locality joined to the capital and part of its metropolitan area, in the municipality of Mineral de la Reforma. The climate is semi-dry and temperate and the water drains toward the Tezontepec River sub-basin.
The 2020 census counted 841 people, 0.42% of the municipality, 381 men and 460 women; ten years earlier there were 780. It is a small locality in a municipality of another scale: Mineral de la Reforma had a 2005 GDP per head of about 112,000 pesos (that year's prices), and in 2015 nearly 80 in every 100 working people were in services.
The landscape around is dry-land vegetation. According to Wikipedia, the municipality grows maguey, prickly pear, mesquite, biznaga cactus, huizache and pirul, and wildlife includes rabbits, mockingbirds, pigeons, crows, owls, lizards and vipers. Rain is concentrated between June and September, about 392 mm a year with a mean of 16 °C, and the nearby hills carry names like Tlaquilpan, Chilelete, Cerro Gordo, Amaque and Peña Pegada. The municipality's name (Mineral) recalls the mines of the region.

How to get to El Álamo
Drive from Pachuca: 10 min, 6 km
El Álamo is one of the places closest to the Hidalgo capital: about 4 km in a straight line from Pachuca (approx. 5 minutes) and about 6 km from Real del Monte. Once at Pachuca's Central de Autobuses, which Wikivoyage calls huge and busy, continue by taxi, ride-hailing or combi. Combis (around 10 pesos) show their final destination on the windscreen and stop wherever flagged, for example along Boulevard Felipe Ángeles; ask for the one heading to Mineral de la Reforma.
