San Luis Potosí has two Pueblos Mágicos on the road south: Santa María del Río, the rebozo-weaving town, under an hour away, and Tierranueva just beyond. Pinos, an hour and a half west in Zacatecas, is a mining town of baroque churches. For a weekend, the choice is wide: the four Aguascalientes pueblos, Guanajuato's Mineral de Pozos and Dolores Hidalgo, or the long drive north to Real de Catorce, the ghost silver town through the Ogarrio tunnel.
