Lagos de Moreno is itself a Pueblo Mágico, a baroque city of the Altos de Jalisco, and makes a good base for the ones around it. Jalpa de Cánovas, a hacienda village among walnut orchards, is an hour away; Temacapulín, a hot-spring hamlet in a canyon, about an hour and three quarters. The four Pueblos Mágicos of Aguascalientes and Nochistlán, the first site of Guadalajara, in Zacatecas are all under two hours. Dolores Hidalgo, cradle of Independence, is two hours south.
